# WhatsApp pricing and charges

> Understand Vocily WhatsApp platform fees, session messages, template charges, and Meta billing.

WhatsApp usage can involve two separate billing relationships:

* **Vocily charges** — platform fees and AI/model usage charged by Vocily.
* **Meta charges** — WhatsApp Business Platform charges set by Meta and paid through
  your own WhatsApp Business Account.

Vocily does not replace your Meta billing relationship. You bring your own WhatsApp
Business Account, keep its payment method active in Meta, and pay Meta's WhatsApp charges
there.

## Vocily WhatsApp charges

Vocily's public WhatsApp pricing uses a pay-as-you-go model. There is no monthly
subscription for WhatsApp and no monitoring fee.

| Message type | Vocily charge |
| --------------------------- | --------------------------------------: |
| **Marketing template** | **\$0.0008** per template message |
| **Utility template** | **\$0.0004** per template message |
| **Authentication template** | **\$0.0004** per template message |
| **Session message** | **\$0.0005** markup per session message |

Session messages are the non-template messages inside the 24-hour customer-service
window: incoming customer messages and manual replies your team types by hand. Template
messages and AI replies are not counted as session messages for this markup.

AI replies are charged separately from the session-message markup. Each AI-generated reply
uses the per-message rate for the model selected for the agent:

| Model | Vocily charge per AI reply |
| --------------------- | -------------------------: |
| **GPT 4.0 mini** | **\$0.0025** |
| **GPT 5 mini** | **\$0.004** |
| **Claude 4.5 Haiku** | **\$0.007** |
| **GPT 5.4 mini** | **\$0.01** |
| **GPT 4.1** | **\$0.015** |
| **GPT 5.4** | **\$0.026** |
| **Claude 4.6 Sonnet** | **\$0.03** |
| **GPT 5.5** | **\$0.052** |

These are Vocily's per-reply rates for the selected model, not raw provider pass-through
rates. Choosing a different model changes the charge for future AI replies.

## The 24-hour window determines which messages you can send

When a customer messages your business, WhatsApp opens a 24-hour customer-service
window:

* **During the window:** Your team can send normal text replies without using a template.
AI replies can also be sent during this window and are charged at the selected model's
  AI-reply rate.
* **After the window closes:** You cannot proactively send a normal text or AI reply. You
must use an approved template to start or restart the conversation. If the customer sends
a new message, WhatsApp opens a new 24-hour window and the agent can reply with AI again.

The window controls WhatsApp's message rules; it does not make messages free. Vocily
charges manual replies at the session-message rate, AI replies at the selected model's
rate, and template messages at the applicable template rate.

## Campaign charges

WhatsApp campaigns send approved templates to selected contacts or groups.

Vocily charges the relevant template rate for campaign template messages:

* Marketing campaign template messages use the marketing template rate.
* Utility campaign template messages use the utility template rate.
* Authentication template messages use the authentication template rate.

Marketing campaigns must also respect opt-out state. Contacts who are opted out of
marketing should be skipped for marketing templates and campaigns.

## Meta charges

Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform charges are separate from Vocily's platform fees.
Meta sets those charges for your WhatsApp Business Account. You pay them in addition to
the applicable Vocily platform fee listed above.

Keep your Meta Business payment method, WhatsApp Business Account status, and phone
number eligibility active in Meta. If Meta billing is not set up or a Meta payment
requirement fails, WhatsApp sends can fail even if your Vocily wallet has balance.

## Where charges appear

Vocily WhatsApp usage is recorded with your organization billing activity. You can review
wallet spend from **Billing → Wallet** and detailed movements from **Billing →
Transactions**.

Meta's charges and invoices are managed in Meta, not in Vocily.
